Bite-sized BErliners podcast series

creative direction + content strategy

At the start of the pandemic, I conceptualized and developed a new scalable podcast series called Bite-sizedBerliners that gave our global Berlin School community a platform to spread the word of their new initiatives and real-world creative leadership learnings in lockdown. Community engagement doubled upon its launch..

Clustered's blog + Newsletter

brand/content management + editor-in-chief

As a freelance writer, I manage and write Clustered’s newsletters and am a regular contributor to their blog. Below are a few of my article contributions. For more of my articles, than the ones below, click here.

The F’ing* Truth: The Good and the Bad of Freelancing

A big perk of being a freelancer is in the name. So is its downfall. And I’m not talking about Shakespearean tragic flaws here. Nor am I alluding to the ‘lancer’ half of the compound, silly! Although sometimes it feels like I’m a soldier going to battle for more clients, and my lance is my sales prose, selling my expertise, services and self worth. And then there’s my horse. Let’s call him Petey F. Invoice. He’s what keeps me going.

Don’t Make an Ex Out of Your Existential Crisis: How to Move Abroad with a Partner

Use my experiences as a lesson on what not to do when moving abroad together. Or take this essay as a sign of relief, something that will give you comfort in knowing that you’re not the only person out there for going a bit insane during a big life change. It’s normal! Going through this kind of move will play with your emotions. The key is to do your best to stay positive through the inevitable cultural punches (and to have a back-up plan and set up a support team for when the road gets rough).

Why Living Abroad May Be Just What You Need

I was 25. A quarter of a century old. Nausea set in every time I logged into Facebook to see a picture of a spoken-for ring finger, a chubby happy baby, or a house captioned “Congrats to the new homeowners!” Mind you, this is back when the newsfeed had only rudimentary filtering capabilities. Was it jealousy? Was it FOMO? Or was I genuinely uninterested in these milestones at this point in my life?

BECYCLE's first-ever blog — BEintheknow

concept initiation + brand/content management + web build/upkeep + editor-in-chief

Being the face — literally being face-to-face with people when they’d come in for classes — of BECYCLE, I knew all of our customers’ names, and most importantly their stories. There were so many amazing triumph stories, I just had to create a platform to share them with the community at large. I also wanted a place to promote all of our lovely brand partners, as we were a boutique shop, too. So through customer success stories to instructor insights and product spotlight articles, I had plenty of content to build and keep up a blog. I decided it best called, BEintheknow. :) Below are a few selected articles that I wrote, and below that are screenshots of the blog’s contents/layout.

Allowed to BE Loud

Ever been in a RIDE that’s half-full, but the energy feels as though every seat’s taken? Audrey was in there. Have you taken Micha’s Monday HIIT and Mobility back-to-back classes and wonder how it can’t possibly be the weekend already? No one has a case of the Mondays. In fact, they have quite the opposite, they’ve got that Friday feeling. Well, Audrey was in those classes, too. Audrey brings an aura of energy wherever she goes. She’s a flame of fire. She’s a ball of fun. She’s a loud and proud. Naturally.

Megan & AJ Get Makeovers

I need a haircut. Real bad. And not just a trim and prim. I need the whooooole do done. I need to get my hair did - that’s how we say it in America. ;) I’ve got split ends like bristles of an old yard broom. My blonde is long gone. It’s now full-fledged green. Seriously. It looks like I’ve been swimming laps everyday. I tell ya, this Berlin calc-y water is no bueno for this natural blonde-y.

Fit to Fly

What was your motivation to take the challenge? I was gearing up to make a documentary about fighter jet pilots in the German Air Force. This was going to involve me taking flight in the Eurofighter, which is one of the most advanced fighter jets. I knew it would be really strenuous on the body, as I had flown three years prior in an F-4 Phantom jet. The G forces during that flight were really hard on my body, so I knew first-hand in order to fly in the Eurofighter, I’d have to be extremely fit.

abroadwith's blog

concept initiation + content management + editor-and-chief

Abroadwith was just two months old, when I joined. Unfortunately, like many startups, the company had to close its doors after a year. This said, all the articles I had written are no longer accessible on the web. Luckily, I had copies saved, so the articles below just link to plain text.

Too Investigations — brand from scratch

brand management + logo design + web build + copy

A private investigator from my home town was starting his own business. He needed everything to open up shop; from a logo and website (with all the copy) to ‘leave behind’ marketing materials. I helped him create it all.

selected hotel websites

brand management + digital production

As a senior digital producer at butteeq/BookingSuite, I worked closely with customers to revamp their hotels’ digital marketing by means of making their old (or lack-thereof) websites look like these mobile-optimized beauties.

videos

shooting + editing

Self-taught for fun, I’ve played around with Final Cut to create a few videos over the last decade. Here are just some random videos; from wedding and marketing promos to rough cuts.

booking suite / buuteeq 'how-to' blog articles

product/market research + copy

As a client brand manager, I knew our product like the back of my grandma's hand. The lines, the limitations. I knew how to sell it to her, too. Or better yet, older women alike. See, a large demographic of our customer base was women over 50. They owned bed & breakfasts across America, but were oblivious when it came to owning their digital marketing. With our SaaS platform, they could. And through our blogs and help desk, they were able stay up-to-date on the constantly evolving digital realm. During my tenure, I had the chance to write for the company blog. Here are a few of my favorite submissions.

Booking suite's customer retention campaign

concept creation + product research + copy

BookingSuite targeted its new customers with this email drip campaign teaching the customer a trick attributed to a unique tip of its software for nine consecutive weeks. Ultimately, these bite-sized "trainings" and CTAs, retained customers for the long-haul. This is due to the fact that once the customer realized ease of use of the product, they would then DIY updates to their own websites, increasing traffic and converting site visits into guests in beds. BookinSuite’s help desk, eventually had less inquiries because these customers were now understanding and loving the value of our product.

Email subject headlines for campaign are in order as follows:

  1. Baby got back(links)

  2. Does your website have bad breath?

  3. Lost in translation? Let's help you be found.

  4. Take off the blindfold.

  5. Do you have the "Goldilocks Seal of Approval?"

abroadwith's customer retention campaign

concept creation + product research + copy

Abroadwith targeted its existing customers with this email drip campaign during the month of October. The point was to give these customers tips and tricks to make their homestay profiles stand out and them more marketable. The result: several customers took the advice and polished up their user profiles, ultimately getting them booking requests.

Email subject headlines for campaign are in order as follows:

  1. Don't spook your students

  2. Are you a ghost?

  3. Don't be a clown, put the seat down
